Frequently Asked Questions...

Q. Is there a registration deadline? Someone told me I that I have to register by May 31. Is this true?

A. No, we will not be cutting off our registrations on May 31; that is simply the last date on which we will offer our "early-enrollment" discounted pricing (NOTE: as of 6/1/08, this early-enrollment discount has been extended to June 14, 2008). On June 15, 2008, our tuition prices will go up either $10 or $20 per camper ($10 for evening and half-day camps, and $20 for full-day and residential camps; see each individual camp page for more details). We will continue to accept applications for all of our soccer camps throughout the month of June (and potentially in July), dependent upon staffing and ensuring that we maintain our low coach-to-camper ratios (i.e. we will only close enrollment if we cannot continue to hire the best, most qualified, and most enthusiastic coaches available to accommodate any additional campers who wish to participate). Our campers and their learning experiences always come first, however, and we will never compromise that in order to accommodate additional campers if we feel that we will be understaffed by doing so.

Q. Can I pay my child's camp tuition with a credit card?

A. Yes. We offer our camp participants the option of paying by check, by credit card, or even through use of their online PayPal account. Please note: credit card and PayPal payments require an additional 3.5% processing fee, which we round to the nearest 25-cent increment.

Q. Why do I have to pay a 3.5% processing fee to enroll online with a credit card?

A. Kalamazoo Sports Camps is committed to keeping our tuition rates as low as possible, so that our camps are accessible to as many families as possible. In order to keep our costs low, prior to 2007 our camp participants were only able to register by mail. For the past 2 camp seasons, however, Kalamazoo Sports Camps has chosen to give our campers' families the option of online registration as a convenience. Doing so, however, threatened to force us to raise our camp tuition rates in order to offer credit card processing. Instead, we decided to offer this service as a convenience to those who don't mind a slightly higher tuition rate (the 3.5% processing fee, rounded to the nearest 25-cent increment)... but we didn't want to pass along these higher costs to those families who do not plan on using this new service. Every summer when planning our camp programs, we will always re-evaluate our online registration option and potentially make changes in order to meet our campers' needs.

Q. Do you offer discounts and/or scholarships?

A. Yes. We offer many different types of discounts, as detailed in the list which follows. Note: discounted tuition applicants must register by mail and pay by check (we regret that we cannot currently process discounted registrations online).

Sibling discounts: 10% off the tuition for the 2nd through 9th child from one family, after the 1st child's tuition is paid-in-full.
Group discounts: 20% off all application fees when 10+ children sign-up from the same team, school, and/or family (applications must be sent in together to qualify). The only exception to our group discount rate is our High School/Club Evening Team-Camp in July, which is already priced at a group rate because it is designed for teams to attend together. As such, no discounts apply to this particular camp. (NOTE: discounts will apply to the HS/Club Residential Team-Camp, however).
Scholarships: We also offer a limited number of reduced-tuition scholarships for families with financial need. Scholarship applicants must complete and submit the scholarship application (.PDF file) prior to May 16, 2008.

Q. Somone told me that I can purchase merchandise items from previous camp years at a discounted rate. How do I do this?

A. It's true! We have a limited number of T-shirts, sweatshirts, jerseys, etc. available from previous camp years, and all items have been marked down to a hugely-discounted 50% off rate (or more!). Campers signing up for one of our 2008 camp sessions can pre-order these merchandise items, and will then pick-up the items when they check-in on the first day of camp. Or, if you prefer to receive these items in the mail right now, you can do so for a small additional shipping charge. To learn more about purchasing discounted merchandise items, click here.

Q. Where can I find directions to the camp location?

A. Directions to Kalamazoo College can be accessed by clicking here.

Q. What should my child bring to camp?

A. Upon registering for camp, you will receive an application confirmation packet (in .PDF format) by e-mail. This will contain a complete list of the items your child should bring to camp, specific to each individual camp/program.

Q. What are the drop-off / pick-up times and locations for half-day, full-day, and evening camps?

A. For all morning, day, and evening camps... parents may drop-off their child each day 15 minutes prior to the beginning of each camp session (i.e. 8:45am for a 9:00am camp start-time, etc.). Parents must also make plans to pick-up their child no later than 15 minutes after the end of each camp session (i.e. no later than 12:15pm for a camp session that ends at 12:00noon, etc.). Drop-off and pick-up will take place at Calder Fieldhouse.

Q. What are the drop-off / pick-up times and locations for residential camp?

A. Residential campers should be dropped off at their dorm (2008 dorm TBA) between 3-4pm on Sunday afternoon, July 20, 2008. Pick-up and check-out will occur between 4-5pm on Thursday evening, July 24, 2008 for all residential camps except the HS/Club Team-Camp; check-out for the HS/Club Team-Camp will take place between 8-9pm on Thursday 7/24, once the evening field sessions are complete.

Q. What is the camp cancellation policy?

A. All of our soccer camps have a $25 non-refundable processing fee. Any balance above and beyond the first $25 (not including any credit-card processing fees) is refundable as follows:

For all half-day and/or evening camps, the entire tuition (minus the $25 processing fee) is fully-refundable as long as cancellation occurs at least seven (7) calendar days prior to the first day of camp. If cancellation occurs less than seven (7) calendar days before the first day of camp, a refund equal to 50% of the remaining tuition paid will be issued. In the case of a "no-show" (i.e. cancellation occurs after the beginning of camp), no refund will be issued.
For all full-day camps, the entire tuition (minus the $25 processing fee) is fully-refundable as long as cancellation occurs at least fourteen (14) calendar days prior to the first day of camp. If cancellation occurs less than fourteen (14) calendar days before the first day of camp, a refund equal to 50% of the remaining tuition paid will be issued. In the case of a "no-show" (i.e. cancellation occurs after the beginning of camp), no refund will be issued.
For all residential camps, the entire tuition (minus the $25 processing fee plus a $60 dorm-room reservation fee) is fully-refundable as long as cancellation occurs at least fourteen (14) calendar days prior to the first day of camp. If cancellation occurs less than fourteen (14) calendar days before the first day of camp, a refund equal to 50% of the remaining tuition paid will be issued. In the case of a "no-show" (i.e. cancellation occurs after the beginning of camp), no refund will be issued.
